Welcome to the home of Vasectomy Australia in Parramatta.
A vasectomy is a great option for men who have decided their families are complete or they do not want to have children.
A vasectomy is greater than 99% effective in achieving permanent sterilisation.
Who should consider vasectomy?
- Men who have decided they do not want to have anymore children
- Men who have no children and will not want any in the future
- Couples where the female in the relationship wants to stop using hormonal contraception like the pill or Mirina, Implanon or a Depot Injection
What are the other options apart from vasectomy?
- The “rhythm method”
- The Pill or other forms of female hormonal contraception
- Tubal ligation
How does the procedure work?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic and usually takes about 15 minutes.
We insert a little bit of local anaesthetic under the skin on the front of the scrotum. We then make an incision and insert some more anaesthetic in the scrotum around the vas on both sides.
The vas are then gently pulled out of the scrotum, cut in half, sealed off on one end and returned to the scrotum.

How long does it take to recover?
Most men will be fully recovered by 7 days.
If you are in a physical job you may wish to take some time off and we are happy to give you a medical certificate for this.
Men in office jobs can usually go straight back to work.
You will want to avoid heavy lifting for 7 days along with sex and physical activity like running or going to the gym. Bike or motorbike riding should be avoided for 2 weeks and contact sports for 3 weeks.
How do I prepare for a vasectomy?
Please shave the scrotum and surrounding area the day before or the morning of your procedure
How much does it cost?
I am still not sure. Can I talk to someone?
